Where to Eat

Great Outdoors Cafe and Spring House Tavern

Great Outdoors

Unquestionably the area’s finest dining, the Great Outdoors is housed in the historic Opera House. Dark wood paneling accents the high-ceilinged dining area, and the walls are decorated with the nature and underwater photography of John Moran and Wes Skiles. The chef has created a menu of outstanding dishes, unlike what you will find anywhere else. The Spring House Tavern offers Naked Ed’s Pale Ale and other micro brews. Visit Great Outdoors Website.

Fleetwood Diner

Fleetwood Diner

Great value in a traditional diner setting on US-441, just across from the High Springs Country Inn. The diverse menu includes many traditional American and Greek offerings — everything from a burger and fries to souvlaki. And you can expect a lot of food for your money.

Mad Hatter’s Cafe

Mad Hatters

Mad Hatter’s serves lunch six days a week and breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays. Check out the cool collectibles and gifts around the cafe as well. Live music on weekends with Doug Low, starting around noon. “Mad Hatter’s where the food is always delicious and fresh.” Visit Mad Hatter’s website.

Alice’s Parkside Restaurant

Alices Restaurant

A great day outdoors requires a hearty breakfast — something more than McDonalds or Waffle House can provide. Alice’s Restaurant (no relation to the Arlo Guthrie song) is where the locals go for breakfast, serving traditional American food. Looking for homemade biscuits, pancakes, grits or bacon and eggs? Alice’s is the place. Conveniently located on US-441, Alice’s is easy to get to, and is open for lunch and dinner, too. More on Alice’s.

Other HIgh Springs Eateries

You will find a Subway and Hardees on US-441. There are also Bev’s two burger restaurants, Las Avina Mexican restaurant downtown, the Station Bakery and Cafe, First Wok Chinese and Sergeant Pepperoni’s Pizzeria. The Google™ Map below is fairly up to date (although not always 100 percent).
